Design By Numbers

In this book, published in 1999, is written as an instruction manual for a web application of the same name Maeda published while at MIT.  He claims it as a way to introduce people who are new computers  to how code works in a computer, visualized through a simple graphics program he made.  It begins with simple instructions such as choosing the color of the paper and drawing pen, then slowly builds up increasingly advanced concepts such as coordinate positions, variables, loops, to taking input over a network.
